Please go to MacKenzie Hall upon arrival to register and acquire your room key. If you arrive after the symposium is underway, you should be able to find us in the Great Hall of the Clans. You can find a campus map of the Gaelic College here.

All rooms at the Gaelic College will have ensuite washroom facilities. The Gaelic College will provide towels and hand soap. Please bring your own shampoo and other toiletries. Please also bring your own hair dryer, if needed.

Note that the Gaelic College is really “in the middle of nowhere.” The nearest town is Baddeck, which is about a 20-minute drive away. While it’s likely that people with cars will make runs into Baddeck each day, you will not want to assume access to shops, banks, ATMs, and restaurants.

You will be well-fed at the Gaelic College and there is a vending machine of snacks available. Don’t worry about going hungry! However, you may also wish to bring your favourite snacks.

Be aware that alcohol is generally NOT available at the Gaelic College although you may bring your own. For those flying in from abroad and coming directly to the Gaelic College from the airport, you may wish to purchase duty-free alcohol en route. Just be aware that duty-free purchases should be placed in a sealed bag at the point of purchase to prevent it from being confiscated when you go through security once you reach Canada and you transfer to your next flight.

If you play an instrument, please bring your instrument (if you can!). We hope you’ll play at our ceilidh on Thursday afternoon. There is a piano onsite. If you play a larger instrument that you can’t bring with you, let us know and we will see if we can arrange for one to be there.

Additional information about currency, temperatures, electricity, and other general information is available here.
